National Consultation on B+15 (Lahore, 10-11 September)
Wednesday, 16 September 2009 13:38
Dear All,
This is to briefly report to you the National Consultation on B+15, "Weaving Wisdom, Confronting Crises, Forging the Future” Lahore, 10-11 September. The Consultation was organised by Shirkat Gah and ASR Resource Centre. More than 135 people participated on both days from across the country representing a cross section of society – grassroots organisations, women’s/human rights activists, NGOs engaged in the Beijing process since the Conference in 1995, social movements, minority groups, parliamentarians, and the media -- among them a fairly large group of young people. Many more were eager to come but financial constraints forced us to limit the numbers (the event was financed entirely by Shirkat Gah and ASR from their respective resources).

Dear Friends,
In regard to the B+15 process may I inform you that Saathi in coordination with other key women's organizations and activists would like to bring out a NGO Nepal report on B + 15 in time to be able to share it regionally at the AP NGO Forum in October and later at the CSW Session. The document will also be used at the national level to push for the implementation of committments. The report will be finalised after a two days national conference scheduled to be held in September second week in Kathmandu. The conference is expected to be attended by around 100 key gender activists and women's organisations from all over the country. The report will identify key accomplishments that have been made since Beijing + 10 Review process in 2004, and key areas where critical gaps remain that specially governments must commit to in regard to each of the twelve critical areas of concern. The report is being prepared based on the following format. -
- *Prevalence of the Problem *
- *Key Gains*
- *Key Gov/NGO Initiatives *
- *Gaps*
- *Emerging Issues *
- *Key Recommendations*
We would be happy to link this initiative to other B+15 efforts that are being planned in the region. Please conctact saathi[AT]gmail[DOT]com or bandanarana[AT]gmail[DOT]com for furhter information about the program
